I spoke the night before last
to an inspiring bunch of young East Enders who are on the UpRising course. The aim of the course is to develop a new generation of activists and leaders and is run by the Young Foundation. The theme for the evening was power – I was talking about the difference between “power over”, where you are looking up to those in charge, and “power to”, which is the confidence and ability to get on and get things done. After a panel session, the team focused on a good consumer power campaign locally – gettting a bus route changed.
