Fighting back on intellectual property

The music and film industry have their mitts all over ministers when it comes to setting the rules on intellectual property and I am personally outraged that the public interest is being signed away.

We did have good news today after we put together a coalition campaign – joint_statement_final – to put a stop to this in the European Parliament – and they responded by failing a first reading

  2. I’m with Lawrence Lessing on this one… sure you know his work. Either way the online version of one of his most famous speeches is well worth experiencing http://randomfoo.net/oscon/2002/lessig/

    My experience tells me that very few people understand copyright let alone care about it. I’m not sure what it would take to turn them from being consumers of culture to feeling some sense of co-ownership.

    Anyway you are up against some very well funded interest / lobbying groups here so good luck.
